Lil Durk transferred to California Prison

Chicago rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, has been transferred to a federal prison in California following new developments in a serious criminal case. Authorities announced on November 8, 2024, that a superseding indictment has been filed against him, adding two new felony charges. These charges are tied to a 2022 murder-for-hire plot in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, also known as Lul Pab.
The new indictment alleges that Lil Durk conspired with members of his rap collective, Only The Family (OTF), to target Quando Rondo as part of an ongoing feud stemming from the death of Durk’s close friend, King Von, who was killed in 2020. According to federal prosecutors, the rapper is accused of using financial resources from his music label to facilitate the murder plot. This included funding flights and accommodations for co-conspirators who traveled to Los Angeles to carry out the attack. The incident took place at a gas station near the Beverly Center in broad daylight, where over a dozen shots were fired, ultimately killing Robinson but missing Rondo .

Initially arrested in Miami on October 24, 2024, while allegedly attempting to flee the country, Lil Durk was held without bond and has since been moved to California, where he awaits further legal proceedings. He, along with five other defendants, faces multiple charges, including conspiracy and using firearms to commit a violent crime. If convicted, these charges carry a maximum sentence of life in federal prison .
The case underscores serious allegations of gang-related violence tied to the hip-hop scene, particularly focusing on Durk’s OTF label. His legal troubles continue to escalate, with this recent indictment adding to the gravity of his potential penalties. Durk and his co-defendants have not yet entered pleas, and they are expected to appear in a Los Angeles federal court in the coming weeks.(Photo from Newsweek)
